The effect of variable magnetic fields on the viability and magnetic susceptibility of cells infected with Plasmodium falciparum is studied by Universidad Latina´s Erika Escala under the mentorship of our collaborator, Dr. Maytee Zambrano. Viability tests are carried out through a circuit and magnetic coils, where samples of blood infected with the parasite are placed. They are then incubated and their health is recorded. The information is obtained by optical microscopy and cytometry. In addition, the results are being analyzed through magnetic field equations. The result is the characterization of the magnetic behavior of P. falciparum.
